In the grey area with drinking? Now what?
It’s not addiction. It’s the space between “all good” and “too much.”
It looks normal, but it robs you of sleep, focus, recovery, even libido.
Most people don’t notice it. You just feel ... off.
<<< >>>
The Space Between “Fine” and “F*cked.”
Most people think you either have a drinking problem… or you don’t. But there’s a whole group of people stuck in between. That’s the grey area.
You might be in that space if:
You drink more than you want to — but not every day
You’ve made rules, broken them, and justified it
You can go without it… but rarely choose to
You’ve caught yourself thinking, Why do I keep doing this?
You don’t want a label — just clarity
You’re not looking for a program — just a way through
You don’t need fixing — you just want this loop to stop
.
That’s who I work with.
People in the grey.
People ready to get honest — without the shame, the pitch, or the pressure.
Why Grey Area Drinking Happens — And How We Change It
Grey area drinking is often a symptom — the conscious behaviour that points to a deeper issue beneath the surface.
.
I don't need to know exactly what that deeper issue is. Instead, I pay close attention to your psychological posture — the automatic, habitual responses in your thinking and behaviour — and focus on uncovering the subconscious payoff that's keeping you stuck.
.
The insights you need are already within you. Terms like 'grey area drinker' are ways our conscious mind tries to make sense of behaviors that don't align with our wellbeing.
.
Beneath your conscious story, your mind maintains certain psychological postures that keep you repeating the same behaviours, even when you want to stop. You don't have to explain or analyse these.
.
I listen carefully to the subtle signals in your words, tone, and body language to discover the underlying drivers — so we can shift those postures and create lasting change together.
.
I use conversational techniques to help you access what you already know, but haven't heard clearly yet.
.
It's the kind of conversation that creates lasting change.
Here's What I Actually Believe About Drinking
Drinking isn’t necessarily a disaster for eveyone. But when it becomes a pattern you can’t shake — something you keep doing even when part of you wants to stop — that matters.
.
Most people only feel the weight of it when they’re sober. Once the cycle restarts, it numbs that clarity. Until it doesn’t.
.
I’m not here to tell you what to do. You might decide to keep drinking. That’s your choice, not mine.
.
But if you’ve noticed something’s off — and you’re tired of pretending otherwise — we can talk. No pressure. Just a clear, honest look at what’s really going on.

ABOUT GEOFF
Who I Am (and why it matters)
I’ve spent over 30 years working with the body, the mind, and the patterns that run beneath both — through manual therapy, movement, health coaching, and helping people untangle long-running behaviours.
—
Just like tight muscles pull posture out of alignment, unexamined patterns pull your thoughts and choices in directions that don’t serve you.
—
More than 25,000 client sessions have taught me that what people come in with is usually just the symptom — not the source. Real change starts when we stop working at the surface and begin addressing what’s underneath.
—
Just like posture reflects long-held muscle habits, your choices and behaviours reflect deeper emotional ones.
You wouldn’t try to fix your posture by forcing your shoulders back while the underlying muscles stay tight.
First, you release what’s stuck — the deeper tension holding the pattern.
Then, with the right awareness, you strengthen something better.
That’s how change holds — not by forcing new habits over old restrictions, but by creating the space to move differently.
—
As for drinking, I stopped years ago. Not because it got out of control, but because it just didn’t make sense anymore. That was my choice — not a prescription.
—
I started noticing how often social drinking was the default — not a decision.
And how quickly people lost connection with themselves, and with each other, once it kicked in.
—
It stopped feeling right. So I let it go.
—
That’s the space I work in now.
Not addiction. Not extremes.
Just the grey — the space between fine and something’s not right.
—
This is therapeutic work — but not the kind that drags on, relies on labels, or keeps you talking in circles.
—
No scripts. No surface-level strategies. Just real conversations that go straight to what’s driving the pattern.
—
Self-sabotage isn’t random. There’s always a reason — a pattern that once helped you cope or stay safe.
We get to that quickly, without fluff — and shift it from the inside out.
—
If you’re ready for that kind of honesty, we’ll probably work well together.

What I Do (And Don’t)
.
What I do:
Have the kind of conversation most people avoid — and need
Work below the surface — where the patterns live
Help you access what you already know, but haven’t heard clearly yet
.
What I don’t:
Diagnose or label you
Sell multi-session packages
Pretend I have all the answers
Getting Started ...
Who I Work With
High-functioning people who are tired of quietly wrestling with something they can’t name.
It might be grey area drinking. It might be something else — procrastination, control, overthinking, overwhelm. Whatever it is, it loops. And you're ready for it not to.
This isn’t therapy in the usual sense — but it is therapeutic.
It’s not coaching — but it moves things.
It’s not clinical — but it’s precise.
What to Expect
Before we work together, we talk. All new clients start with a free 30-minute conversation over Zoom.
We’ll explore what’s going on for you, what you’re hoping to shift, and whether this feels like the right fit — for both of us.
There’s no pitch. No pressure. No expectation to continue. Just one real conversation to see what’s possible.

Not sure what’s going on with your drinking?
Start with a quick quiz — or jump straight into a conversation.
No judgment. No pitch. A low-key way to check in with yourself and what’s next.
FAQ
Grey area drinking refers to the space between social, controlled drinking and problematic or dependent drinking. It’s where many people find themselves — drinking more than they want to, breaking their own rules, or feeling stuck in a pattern they don’t fully understand.
.
"Grey area drinking is a pattern of alcohol use that isn’t extreme or out of control — but still feels misaligned, harder to stop than it should be, and quietly at odds with who you want to be."
It’s not a program. It’s not a diagnosis. It’s not months of talking in circles.
This is a focused, grounded conversation that gets underneath the surface — quickly.
We’ll look at the deeper patterns behind the behaviour, not just the behaviour itself.
No fixing. No pathologizing. Just real clarity, fast — and often, a surprising sense of relief.
Not formally — but the work is subconscious-aware. Most people say it feels like something clicked. Something softened.
No. Many clients find what they need in a single session that lasts anywhere from less than an hour to several hours — we stay until we’re done. Follow-ups are optional and only if you feel it’s necessary.
That’s completely okay. This work isn’t about forcing you to quit. It’s about gaining clarity and choice — you decide what’s right for you, free from shame or pressure.
Beneath your conscious mind are automatic patterns and ‘trances’ that keep you repeating behaviours without realising it. I help uncover and interrupt these patterns to create real, lasting change.
Sessions are one-on-one and tailored to you. We work at your pace — it may take 20 minutes, other times a few hours. I listen closely to your words, tone, and body language to uncover subconscious patterns, then we work together to shift what’s keeping you stuck. Sessions are conducted via Zoom. This allows for flexibility and convenience, no matter where you are located.
Change is personal, and I don’t promise a magic fix. What I can guarantee is that I will bring honesty, intuition, and a focused approach to help you uncover what’s really driving your behaviour. Many clients find clarity and positive shifts in just one session, but your outcome is always yours to own.
We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may result in forfeiture of the session.
Absolutely. Everything you share during sessions is strictly confidential and handled with the utmost respect and privacy. Your trust is paramount, and I adhere to professional confidentiality standards.
No special preparation is needed. Just come as you are, ready to be honest with yourself and open to discovering what might be holding you back. The session is your space to explore, and I’ll guide you through the process.

One session. No pressure. No prep. No catch.
This isn’t therapy as usual. You don’t need to be “ready” or have it all figured out.
Every new client starts with a free, 30-minute Zoom chat. We’ll focus on what’s going on for you, what you want to change, and if this feels like the right move — for both of us.
